You choose an ensemble and the editor sets up the staves with their clefs, ready for notes. There is nothing to install and no account to create. The score stays in your browser until you download it.
Two ways to start
A blank score for the ensemble you choose
You choose the instruments, key, time signature and number of bars, and the editor sets up the staves with their clefs. The ensemble is settled at the start, because staves cannot be added or removed once you are writing.
Your own MusicXML file
You load it from your computer in the same window. It opens in a panel alongside as the original you copy bars from. The file is not uploaded anywhere.
Playback while you write
What you write, you can hear straight away in the browser, with no export to another program.
No account
The editor does not ask you to log in. You download the finished score as MusicXML and open it in your notation program.
What the editor can do
- Notes go in from the letter keys, the on-screen keyboard, or a MIDI instrument you plug in.
- Durations, dots, accidentals, rests, ties, tuplets, and separate voices on one staff.
- Playback while you write, with no export.
- On a phone you can read the score, listen to it and download the file; entering notes needs a mouse and keyboard.
